Where we’ve been,
What we’ve done

This page is a compilation of projects from the very beginnings of Signs & Designs in 1986. As you can see, our foundation started with plotter cut and screen-printed vinyl films in it’s infancy, and has progressed to encompass many different kinds of media & applications. Our knowledge of these products is extensive, and our experience in all these areas is unmatched.
This was my first entirely screen-printed sign.
An early show display showing some of our clients at that point in time. Circa 1989.
Contingency decals on the Folgers Ford for Roush Racing.
Rolling to the starting grid at Rockingham. Thats Andy Hillinburg far right.
The Busch Grand National car of Bown Racing, driven by Jim Bown.
The alternate sponsor on the same Bown car during the same season.
Promotional 55 gal. bean cans. We were wrapping before there was a word for it.
One of our first molded plastic jobs.
Almost impossible installation on ribbed semi trailer.
One of our early large fleet clients
Replacement acrylic panels at Rockingham Dragway.
The first re-design of the Asheboro Police Dept. in 1996.
We did the first significant changeover for the Randolph Co. Sheriff Dept. in 1996
We were plotter cutting vinyl before most sign shops had even heard of it. These chute logos were hand cut though, but the lettering was off a Gerber Sprint II. The lettering part on this door is computer cut. We were one of the first to use computerized lettering in the area. Our racing background is extensive. This Busch Grand National car was owned by the legend Sam Ard. I went “Over the Wall” on several occasions with the Richard Lasater team. This was Bristol in 1992 where he finished 9th. One of the first of 29 coaches we did for Royal Tours. No digital printing back then, this was all plotter cut. This plotter cut decal was cut and applied all in one morning before 8 am for a ground breaking ceremony. Luckily it stuck to the dew covered blade. Thats Richard Petty in drivers seat. Tons of signage for Rockingham Dragway during the 90’s, for the NHRA Winston Select event. Our first Winston Cup sponsorship deal was on the Maxxorb Buick driven by Andy Hillenburg This was one of our sponsorship deals with the Busch Grand National car of Richard Lasater. Richard Lasater bought the Sam Ard team and we continued supplying decals for them. Our next big break was supplying all the decals for the Stroh’s Light Ford of Mark Martin in 1988. Our first big break came with the construction of the Roush Racing Shops sign in Liberty in 1987. This job was completely hand cut out of vinyl. I didn’t have a computer lettering machine for the first couple years. These are my first four screenprint customers displayed in my basement art dept. in early 1986. Signs & Designs began in January 1986. This was my screenprinting area in a
12’ x 16’ outbuilding behind my house.
